Ronnie Michael Smith 72, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the intensive care unit of Spartanburg Regional Hospital after a long battle with kidney disease. Mr. Smith was born December 21,1945, in Spindale, NC, and lived there most of his life. He was an RS Central High School graduate and a member of the first graduating class of Isothermal Community College where he served as Vice President of his class. He completed his education at Appalachian State University, Boone, NC, and graduated with a bachelor degree in business and minor in psychology.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joan Haraway Smith; sons Jeffrey Bryan Smith, Michael Anthony Smith, brother Larry Douglas Smith, grandson Dylan Smith, daughter-in-law Kim Smith and mother-in-law Exie Haraway. He was preceded in death by his parents Houston and Freeda Stringer Smith, an infant sister Norma Faye and father-in-law Dempsey Haraway. Mr. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church in Spindale.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 4th in the chapel of Crowe's Mortuary & Crematory with Fr. Jonathan Lankford and Ed Tetrick, Deacon, officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation.
